World's Smallest Primate From Bohol Philippines

The Philippine tarsier (Carlito syrichta), known locally as mawmag in Cebuano/Visayan and mamag in Luzon, is a species of tarsier endemic to the Philippines. It is found in the southeastern part of the archipelago, particularly on the islands of Bohol, Samar, Leyte and Mindanao.



Tarsiers are group of animals such as monkeys,lemurs, apes,and also human.They can only be found in the part of Sout East Asia.There are times scientist debates about the existence and the numbers of different kinds of Tarsier.Base on study there are 3 groups of tarsiers they are Wester,Eastern and Philippines tarsier and there are 18 species and subspecies in these 3 groups of tarsiers.




Tarsiers are arboreal or a tree living animals.They jump through the trees to catch their prey which is mainly insects but sometimes not only insects but they eat also lizards,small snakes and birds.Tarsiers are small with a very large eyes,elongated hind legs and feet a thin tail and a long fingers.They are active at night (noctural) unlike other species move around in the day time.Some of them live in a family groups while others spend all the time alone and finding opposite sex behavior.They can climb tress an hour after they birth and they are burn with fur.



Some conservation efforts are under way for the various species, most notably the Philippine Tarsier. Conservation efforts should focus on their wild populations and habitats.  //*
